All Texas A&M students, regardless of skating level, are welcome to join our club! If you don’t have your own figure skates, rentals are available. For our Competition Team, members must be full-time students, registered with United States Figure Skating (USFS), and qualified to compete at Aspire 3 level or higher.
It is best to wear warm, flexible layers that allow for movement. Leggings, athletic pants, fitted tops, and jackets are ideal. Gloves are recommended. Avoid thick socks and jeans.
Both teams take part in practices, exhibitions, and the club’s social activities. All members receive a team jacket and shirt, and they can order TAMU FSC merchandise during our group orders throughout the year. The Recreational Team has no skill requirements and is perfect for beginner skaters or those who prefer not to compete. The Competition Team requires Aspire 3 or above, and members must participate in at least one of the three competitions held during the year. New Competition Team members also pay a one-time fee for their team vest. The club will cover one competition entry fee for each member’s first event of the year.
TAMU FSC competes in the Midwest Conference of intercollegiate figure skating. For the 2025–26 season, our competitions will be at Trine University, Texas A&M/Rice University, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The complete schedule can be found here.
We skate at Spirit Ice Arena! See their website for rink policies. Our practices include both open practice sessions on public/freestyle ice and private ice sessions for events, exhibitions, and group practices. Bus Route 27 runs directly to the rink. Members can check our Google Calendar for exact practice times.
All members, both returning and new, must complete our membership application, which will be open from August 10th to September 6th.
Club dues are collected at the beginning of each season (academic year) and generally covers all team private ice sessions, team clinic coaches fees, a season t-shirt, and a team jacket in addition to other events we host throughout the year. For the 2025 – 26 season, Recreation Team dues will be around $180 and Competitive Team dues will be around $550. New competitive team members are also required to pay an $80 New Member Fee for our competitive team vest which we wear to competitions. If needed, we’re happy to set up a payment plan so that all members can comfortably participate.
